Kindergarten - Grade 2
In this dynamic introduction to theatre, children are invited to discover their creativity and unleash their imaginations through games, free play, and storytelling. They will improve their literacy and numeracy, learn how to work together, listen and share, create characters, build exciting new worlds, and enhance their storytelling abilities. As the skills of the ensemble improve, we will devise a short play that will be presented to parents at the end of the year. Lots of fun for the absolute beginner!
Grade 3 - Grade 5
As their awareness of the world grows, so too will your child’s awareness of the performance and theatre making process. Children will be given the freedom to explore who they are and their place in the world, while having fun and learning how to create brand new works of theatre. Improvisation and theatre making tasks will run alongside games as they expand their knowledge of theatrical craft and process. We will encourage creative expression by building characters, experimenting with physicality, writing scenes and rehearsing for performances. Your child will build confidence, collaborative skills and learn how to take risks in a safe, supportive and fun environment.
Grade 6 - Grade 8
The unique voices of this middle-school aged ensemble will shine through as they become proficient creators and performers. A variety of theatre making devices and theatrical styles will be explored to support these young artists in forging their own creative methodologies. This safe space will be filled with creative experimentation and risk taking, as the ensemble try their ideas on the floor using improvisation, provocation, physicality, story-telling, and world and character building. The perfect workshop for your child to expand their theatrical and performance knowledge and to take the next step in their actor training.
Grade 9 - Grade 12
This workshop invites our senior ensemble to become co-creators and collaborators within the creative process. These young, emerging artists are given the space to create the work that they want to create and are asked to respond to provocations to ignite the devising process. They will experiment with physicality, use improvisation and task work to explore pertinent themes, work as an ensemble, investigate world issues and current events, tell stories, analyse and interpret scripts, develop characters, and rehearse and refine performance outcomes.
